We enjoy the fresh clean air outdoors, but what about when we are inside? We design buildings to keep the inside air, well, inside. Because we want to control the temperature inside, they are designed to have minimal exchange with outdoor air. The result is that airborne toxins, molds, and germs that can cause illness and allergies get trapped inside. Pediatric Dentistry of Shreveport-Bossier recognizes this problem, not only for our patients, but for our employees as well. Indoor air quality has a HUGE impact on your health, especially when we spend so much of our time indoors. We want everyone who walks through our doors to know that we have rigorous standards of health and infection control including our air quality!
To combat poor indoor air quality and to help minimize the risk of our patients’ potential for exposure to COVID-19, we have incorporated a variety of protocols to complement all the standard precautions we take. Besides practicing social distancing and asking parents to wear facemasks in the office, we have invested in a medical grade air filtration system.
Due to the fact that patients spend quite a bit of time with their mouths open while at our office, Dr. Gambill believes that having quality clean air was an important investment to make. To reflect the value we place on your child’s safety, we want to explain the efforts we’ve taken to keep everyone healthy.
Medical Grade Purification for Clean Air
Surgically Clean Air has a six-stage filtration system that is designed to remove small and large particles from the air and is powerful enough to circulate that clean air throughout the office. This system begins with a pre-filter and HEPA filter to remove dust particles, pollen and allergens from the air. Next, a carbon filter absorbs VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and other gases. The next three levels of filtration include Germicidal UV-C+, Photocatalytic Nano-TiO2 and Hydroxyl Radicals to destroy mold, allergens, viruses, odors (like Formaldehyde and smoke), bio-aerosols, and many other pollutants. The final stage includes a negative ion generator to make the indoor air feel more pure, clean and energized as well as reducing fatigue.
